Dance Injuries

MY INSPIRATION:* I have two daughters who have been dancing since the age of 3 and have been competing in dance since 2017. As a result of their love of dance, I developed a particular interest in studying dance and took it upon myself to become knowledgeable in the area of dance rehabilitation, training, and injury prevention so my girls would be able to dance to the highest level of their abilities without pain or restrictions. Over the years I've tried to gather as much knowledge as I can in this area by researching on my own and taking continuing education courses through the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries in NYC Westside Dance Physical Therapy, hosted at Johns Hopkins Hospital. In addition I have been an active member of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science.

DANCER SCREEN/INJURY PREVENTION PROGRAM:* With what I've learned so far, I've been able to develop a comprehensive Dancer Screen/Assessment which I've been able to use with several dancers in the area, to evaluate strength, range of motion, and balance/proprioception specific to the demands placed upon dancers. With the information I gather, I am able to identify problem areas or weaknesses that may make them more susceptible to injuries and offer individualized programs to help address these areas.
